THE  OCEAN RACE

The Ocean Race is one of the toughest and longest team regatta competitions that exists since the participants face the great challenge of going around the world.


This great sporting event requires extraordinary preparation and great effort on the part of the elite crew members. They give everything for the race 24 hours a day looking for advantages that can make a difference.

As a novelty in this next edition, there will be two classes of boats: the high-tech IMOCA 60 and the VO65 one-designs. The new IMOCA 60 sailing boats: are high performance with foils that are powered by a 100% renewable energy source.

The Ocean Race 2023 will visit a total of nine cities over a period of 6 months. The teams will travel a total of 7 stages passing through the following cities: Alicante, Cape Verde, Cape Town, Itajaí, Newport, Aarhus, Kiel Fly-by, The Hague and Genoa.

Alicante will be the Port of Departure for the Round the World Sailing, for the fifth time in the history of the regatta.

To celebrate the departure of the ships on January 15, 2023, Alicante’s Levante Pier will host the Ocean Live Park from January 7 to 15. Throughout that week, there will be free activities for all audiences, from workshops, shows, concerts to gaming competitions.
