In January 2027, our city will once again be in the global spotlight. For the sixth consecutive time, Alicante becomes the Start Port for The Ocean Race—the round-the-world regatta that pushes the limits of human endurance and technology.

Over 50 years of uniting legends and oceans

Since 1973, this competition has been much more than a race; it is an unparalleled human adventure. For five decades, The Ocean Race has challenged the world’s best sailors, serving as the stage where the legends of our sport are forged. We still remember the excitement of the last edition, which set sail from our waters in January 2023. After visiting nine iconic cities and crossing various waypoints, the American 11th Hour Racing Team claimed victory in a historic edition defined by the impressive IMOCA boats, capable of “flying” over the waves thanks to their foils.
