Alicante, Wednesday, November 30, 2022.- Vithas Hospitals of Alicante collaborate with Alicante Puerto de Salida (APS) in the training of volunteers who will participate in support of the activities of the Ocean Live Park between January 7 and 15, on the occasion of the start of The Ocean Race.
Vithas Hospitals in Alicante have held various training sessions for all the volunteers who will be supporting the start of the round the world sailing race, The Ocean Race, and who, in one way or another, will be helping to ensure the smooth running of all the activities scheduled for the week.
The training, given by Borja Morant, an accredited trainer for basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation, was attended by more than 200 volunteers.
Learning to detect an emergency situation and to initiate emergency care is the main objective of the training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) that all volunteers have received.
The theoretical and practical sessions, lasting one hour, were given at the Vithas Alicante Hospital and were carried out in small groups spread over several days.
Thus, for the director of nursing at Vithas Hospitals in Alicante, Víctor Pérez, “these training sessions will deal with basic CPR and first aid measures, which are key when dealing with an emergency, as they can save lives”.
On the other hand, the managing director of the center, Dr. Carlos Yago commented that “the volunteer may be the first person to detect these emergency situations during the days when the Ocean Live Park will be open, and it is therefore essential that he/she knows how to recognize the first signs of alarm and activate early specialized assistance”.
