Alicante (10/08/2026). Generalitat Valenciana, through Sociedad de Proyectos para la Transformación Digital (SPTD), continues to reinforce the logistical infrastructure for the upcoming edition of the round-the-world yacht race, The Ocean Race Alicante 2027. On this occasion, the public enterprise has launched a tender for the supply, hire, assembly, and maintenance of the marquees and auxiliary elements that will form the heart of the Ocean Live Park.
This contract represents a strategic step to endow the event with the highest international profile and technical functionality. Given the technical complexity involved in setting up a venue of these characteristics, alongside the need for specialized on-site technical support to resolve any issues immediately during the ten days of opening, SPTD is opting to contract an external professional company capable of ensuring the safety and constant operational readiness of all facilities.
Seven functional modules for a state-of-the-art venue
The deployment planned by SPTD envisages the installation of various structures distributed across specialized modules to cover all the event’s organizational needs. Among the key facilities are:
-
Digital Entertainment Pavilion: A 600 m² marquee (20m x 30m) dedicated to new technologies and entertainment.
-
Media Centre: A 375 m² space designed exclusively for accredited journalists, equipped with dedicated furniture, break areas, and meeting rooms.
-
Catering and Volunteer Zone: A 375 m² structure with capacity to seat 250 people.
-
Activation and Sponsor Spaces: Areas designated for brand exhibitions and supporting activities, including pagoda-style marquees for auxiliary uses.
All marquees must meet strict quality standards, including air conditioning, technical lighting, ramp accessibility, and fire safety measures.
Tender details and deadlines
The award procedure is being conducted as an open tender subject to harmonized regulation (SARA), ensuring transparency and fair competition among specialized firms. The total budget, including 21% VAT, is set at €260,063.93.
Interested companies can submit their electronic proposals via the Public Sector Contracting Platform until 10 September 2026.
According to technical planning, the critical milestone is set for 5 January, when all structures must be installed and fully operational for inspection ahead of the Ocean Live Park opening, which will welcome the public from 8 to 17 January 2027. The contracted service also includes preventive maintenance throughout the event and the final dismantling of the structures.
Award criteria: Quality and sustainability
SPTD has established an evaluation system that assigns 70% of the weight to objective criteria (with price accounting for 60 points and enhanced technical support for 10 points) and 30% to subjective criteria requiring value judgment.
Under the latter category, the technical quality of the structures, modern design, and particularly a commitment to sustainability will be evaluated. The tender will reward the use of reusable or recyclable materials, as well as the implementation of efficient waste management protocols during assembly and dismantling.
Alicante: Permanent home of nautical excellence
With this latest step, the Generalitat reaffirms its commitment to consolidating Alicante as the world’s premier starting port for The Ocean Race. Spanning over 55,000 m², the Ocean Live Park will once again be the epicenter of a program combining elite sport with leisure activities for the general public, ensuring all technical resources are fully operational for the grand transoceanic start scheduled for 17 January 2027.
