Coinciding with the recent birthday of the departure of The Ocean Race regatta from Alicante, the facilities of Ciudad de la Luz host this Thursday the screening of ‘A Voyage of Discovery: The Ocean Race’. This is an exclusive documentary produced by Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) that presents a deep dive into the lives of the sailors and teams that competed in the latest edition of the round the world sailing race.
In this way, the Auditorium of the Ciudad de la Luz Study Center will open its doors at 6:00 p.m. to offer the three parts of this unique documentary. It is a vision that wanted to go beyond the coverage of the race to offer the human story lived by the athletes. For which it collects never-before-seen images of some of the most extreme and exciting moments of the latest edition of the world tour.
‘A Voyage of Discovery: The Ocean Race’ now comes to the big screen in the Ciudad de la Luz thanks to the collaboration between The Ocean Race and Sociedad de Proyectos para la Transformación Digital (SPTD). This public institution manages the Alicante film studios and the organization of Alicante Puerto de Salida, the global event on the occasion of the departure of the ships from Alicante.
It now arrives on the big screen at the Ciudad de la Luz studio facilities to give visibility and keep the legendary regatta in Alicante present.
The general director of SPTD and Ciudad de la Luz, Fermín Crespo, has shown his satisfaction with this initiative organized together with The Ocean Race. Furthermore, he has highlighted the educational and dissemination value that this line of collaboration has to give visibility and keep the legendary regatta in Alicante present.
The Director of Marketing and Management of Cities Suyo The Ocean Race, Mirko Groeschner, for his part, has confided that “these 3 episodes help the Alicante public to follow all the action behind the scenes of the 2022-23 edition and to relive the human story and the drama of the toughest fully crewed regatta in the world.” Likewise, he added that “we are looking forward to sharing with everyone the next editions of this incredible adventure”.
