From the 28th to the 31st of March, Alicante Puerto de Encuentro will be the setting for two key events on the national circuit in the world of sailing: the regional cruising championship and the Optimist class. The two competitions will be organised by the VC Sailing Federation, the Royal Regatta Club of Alicante and the Alicante Costa Blanca Sailing Club, which will host more than 50 boats and nearly half a thousand sailors.
The regional Sailing Cruise Championship is the most important event in this sporting field, in which the twenty-nine clubs of the Community participate and which is open to the participation of other clubs that have ORC-rated cruises. The races will take place in the open sea on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st March.
The Optimist Team Championship will be held in the water in the port of Alicante and will be played in a team versus team mode. Four boats will compete against four others in each of the races. We remind you that this category in children’s sailing is the first step that young sailors take in their initiation period.
With this event, the intention is to prolong the effects of the biggest competitive event in Alicante, such as the start of the Round the World Sailing Tour, and at the same time, to make the nautical clubs of the Valencian Community more involved. In addition, Alicante Puerto de Encuentro aims to break the seasonality of the event and keep it alive with this event that will feature participatory, recreational and sporting activities for all audiences.
